MSI B550 Gaming GEN3 AM4 motherboard | was

MSI B550 Gaming GEN3 AM4 motherboard | was $119.99 now $99.99 at Amazon

This couldn't be an easier recommendation for me (Ben, Tech Editor) since it's the exact motherboard from my personal machine, and I've used this thing almost every single day without fault. I chose it to pair with a Ryzen 5 2600 (which I'm about to replace with a Ryzen 7 5800X, also on sale at Amazon,) and it's never caused any issues.

It's compatible with AMD processors using the AM4 socket, so there are plenty of budget-friendly options to choose from. There aren't any 3-pin ARGB headers, but there are 4-pin JRGB alternatives, so consider your options for aesthetics. Nevertheless, I still use an RGB CPU cooler and RGB RAM alongside case fans with their own lighting, so it's not an issue.

✅Great for: Budget-friendly custom gaming PC builds using AMD Ryzen processors.

Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 32GB (2x 16GB) 3600MHz CL18 | was

Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 32GB (2x 16GB) 3600MHz CL18 | was $134.99 now $75.99 at Amazon

The best thing about technology advancing to a new generation is that all the expensive stuff from the last comes crashing down in price, but the performance is often still fantastic. DDR4 vs DDR5 is more of an issue when choosing your processor since some of the most cutting-edge CPUs will only support the latter, but plenty of AMD and Intel chips still work with the far more affordable DDR4.

For RGB enthusiasts, this world-class Corsair Vengeance kit comes with 2x 16GB modules of DDR4-3600 with CL18 timing and customizable lighting to boot. It doesn't actually make your computer any faster, but 32GB of RAM clocked at 3600MHz is more than enough for anyone building a custom machine with DDR4 memory and an appropriate CPU.

✅Great for: Pairing with previous-gen AMD CPUs and modern Intel CPUs (up to 13th Gen.)
